Simple Skincare Routine: Morning Edit

Today I am sharing my morning skincare routine with you guys. I like to keep it simple and quick in the morning. I don’t want to faff around with too many products in the morning and this routine has been working out for me. These products are the main products that I use everyday. Apart from these I use a couple of other products as and when required and I will tell you about them as well.

Cleansers: I thoroughly cleanse my face in the night but still I like to cleanse my face in the morning to kick start my day. I prefer using gentle cleansers in the morning and my all time favourite for that is Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion. It is really gentle on your skin and doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry. I massage it all over my face and neck for about 20 – 30 seconds and rinse it off with lukewarm water. Other product that I like to use is Garnier Micellar Water. Just pour it on a cotton pad and wipe your face with it and you are good to go on with the next step.

Eye Cream: Using an eye cream is really important. Don’t skip this step and I recommend start using one as soon as you are in your twenties. Precaution is better cure guys. I have yet to find the one that I really love. Currently I am using L300 Anti Age Firming Eye Cream. I have not used it for that long so can’t say much about if it works on dark circles or reduces fine lines. But what I can say is it keep my under eye area well moisturised and sits well under makeup.

Serum: I love using serums and just can’t do without one. I have dry and dehydrated skin so I go for the hydrating ones. Clarins Hydraquench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase is a great product but it is a pricey one. More affordable options that really work are Yves Rocher Hydra Vegetal Moisture Boost Concentrate and Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum. I am currently using the Vichy one and I really like it a lot. My skin just soaks it in and it does a great job at keeping my skin hydrated all day. I take a pump of this serum and apply it on face and neck. I let it sit for a minute or two before moving on to the next step.

Moisturiser: After serum I move on to applying moisturiser. During the day and especially in summers I don’t like using heavy creams and I prefer using one with SPF. I am using the Formula 10.0.6 Picture Perfect Day Daily Moisturiser with SPF15. I discovered this product last year and I am on my second tube. I like how simple yet effective this product is. Doesn’t make any huge claims, moisturises nicely and provides a bit of sun protection as well.

I don’t use toner on daily basis. I have made an apple cider vinegar toner and use it when I have any active breakouts or if I feel like using one, otherwise I skip this step. Apart from that if my eyes are really puffy in the morning I apply aloe vera gel as soon as I get up and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. I find it helps with puffiness and if you store aloe vera gel in fridge, results are even better. If I am at home then I don't apply sunscreen separately but if I am going out I apply SPF 30 before doing my makeup.

After I did my first empties I was so proud of myself to finish up quite a few things and thought it would take me quite a while to do another post like this because I get bored easily and switch to new things but I have been good and stuck to finishing up stuff that I am using and here I am again with yet another empties post. So let’s see what all products I managed to finish up this time around.

Eucerin Sun Lotion Extra Light SPF 30 – It has high UVA/UVB protection and is water resistant. It is a nice product and I prefer to use it for my body and not my face. They say it is an extra light but I find it quite heavy to use on the face and gives a greasy look. It is a nice product and I liked when I used it but not a fan in particular. I would not buy it again because there are so many options in the market to try out.

No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Balm – I thought it would be a balm but it’s not it is thick cream cleanser and feels like using a cleansing milk but thicker. It is very effective in removing the makeup and works on waterproof mascara as well. Doesn’t sting or irritate my eyes. It is thick and creamy so oily skin people might not like but dry skin gals will like it. But it leaves a slight residue behind after cleansing which I personally don’t mind because I double cleanse and usually use a face wash or Garnier micellar water after using this. This is quite moisturising and even after using face wash my face doesn’t feel dry or stretchy.

Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover – It is a bi-phase eye makeup remover. Great product and very affordable. It removes waterproof mascara easily and quickly. Just pour on the cotton pad and hold over your eyes for few seconds and your done. No rubbing or tugging is required. Doesn’t irritate or burn my eyes. Definite repurchase.

L'oreal Triple Active Comfort Gentle Toner for Dry and Sensitive Skin – Its consistency is quite thick in comparison to other toners. This is a very gentle and hydrating toner. Doesn’t have alcohol. I am not that particular about using toners and it is not a must step for me in skincare. But I am open to try something which interests me.

Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion for Sensitive Skin – A very gentle cleanser that is great for dry and sensitive skin gals. It doesn’t dry out my skin or leave it feeling stretchy post washing. Not the best to remove the full face of makeup with but a nice option for second cleanse or a morning cleanser. I like using it as a morning cleanser. I have used it for a long time now and always have this in my cabinet. If you are looking for a gentle cleanser and don’t want to shell out too much money then try this out.

L'oreal Go 360 Clean Deep Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin – I have to admit I bought this one because of the cute little rubbery scrubber that comes with it and I love it, it is so handy and I use it all the time with other face washes as well. It is a nice face wash. Lathers up nicely and a little goes a long way. It leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean which is good thing but I have notice that post wash my skin feels a bit stretchy and I have this urge to apply my moisturiser/cream immediately. But once I am done with moisturiser/cream it feels normal again. If that’s something you are not comfortable with then try something else. Not going to repurchase, I want to try something else.

Body Scrub – I picked this up from one of the grocery stores. It is there in house brand. It is a cream based body scrub. I am so used to using body polishes that I missed the soapy element. Smells like pomegranate. I found it a bit harsh for my liking and ended up using it as a foot scrub. Not going to repurchase.

Nivea Deo – I prefer using roll on during travel. They are much easier to carry around and are compact in size. It was ok nothing special. Worked fine for 6-7 hours after which I felt like reapplying it. Now I have one from Yves Rocher.

Garnier Fructis Nutri Repair 3 Mask – Not a fan it didn’t do much for my hair. I expected it to nourish my hair and control the frizz but it was not that effective. It did provide some shine and my hair felt soft at touch but the effect was not that long lasting. Not a repurchase.

It's 1st of December today. I simply cannot believe it's December already, this year has flown by so quickly and I am having a hard time to come to terms with it. But with December comes the fun times. Party season, loads of shopping and some great time with family and friends. Enough with the rambling let's get started. With yet another month gone, it's time to share the monthly favourites with you guys.

Here they are:

The Body Shop Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream – My skin has been so dry lately because of the cold weather and my normal moisturiser was simply not enough so I started using this and it has helped a lot in getting rid of the dryness and bringing back the much needed moisture to my skin. Initially I was using it both morning and night but now my skin is a lot better so I use this only at night.
Yves Rocher Intense Hydrating Mask - This is such a lifesaver. An absolute must product for me. This is so hydrating and gets rid of dry patches almost instantly. My skin simply love this this. If you have dry skin or dry patches should definitely check this out. Read full review here.
Nueva Lip Balm - My lips are dry and chapped all year round and gets worse in the winters. This time around I went to the pharmacy to get a lip balm and they recommend this one. Never heard of it before but I went ahead and bought it and I quite like it. It has helped a lot in treating my dry chapped lips. It is quite a creamy and heavy feeling balm but it has worked for me and I am so pleased with it.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water - This comes as no surprise to me. I like this a lot. Very effective in removing makeup not that great on waterproof mascara. Works great as second cleanse and as a morning cleanser. So convenient and easy to use. Read full review here.
Sleek Blush by 3 Palette in Pumpkin - I love this palette. The blush shades are so beautiful and all of them are wearable. They look very bright in the pan but they blend so nicely. Packaging is so compact and travel friendly. This is what I have been using for blush the whole month. Read full review here.
H&M Colour Essence Eye Pencil in Grand Cru - Beautiful champagne gold shade and I have been loving this. It looks so great as an inner corner highlight and I have been using just this since I got it. Perfect for people who love glittery eyeliner and would be great for upcoming festive season. Read full review here.
NYX Lipliner Pencil in Bloom - It is a bright fuchsia shade, love it. It is one of those shades that instantly brightens up your face and makes you look more lively. Another thing I love about NYX lip liner is they do not dry out my lips. Read the full review here.

Today I am reviewing Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water for you guys. I have bought this over a month ago and have been using it since. Let's see how this one fared out.

Product description:

A super efficient and gentle way to cleanse, remove makeup, soothe the feel of skin and hydrate in just one step – it’s not magic, it’s Garnier Micellar!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water contains micelles which act like magnets, gently lifting away makeup and impurities from the skin, without the need to rub or rinse. The result?

Beautifully cleansed and refreshed feeling skin in an instant. The formula is suitable for the face, eye area and lips, has no perfume and comes in a generous 400ml size.

Price: Approx 8$ / £4.99

Packaging: It comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a flip open cap which shuts tightly. It is a bulky bottle (400 ml) and hence not that travel friendly.

Performance: It looks like water and has no fragrance whatsoever. So it seems you are using water to remove your makeup. Duhhh.. it is water but Micellar Water. Micellar Water has tiny little cleansing agents called micelles which help in lifting the dirt and makeup from your face. They actually do a good job of removing makeup and are very easy and convenient to use. Just pour (on cotton pads), swipe and go.

Garnier Micellar water is very gentle and is suitable for all skin types even the sensitive ones. It did not irritate my eyes at all and neither did it leave my skin feeling dry or stretchy post usage. It gets rid of makeup nicely and without much effort but it is not that effective on waterproof makeup especially mascara. I prefer waterproof mascara and this was not able to get rid of it even after holding the cotton pad over the eyes for a minute, pressing and rubbing, with normal mascara(not waterproof) also I find it leaves a little bit behind. Apart from that I think it does a good job of removing my makeup and the process is very easy and quick. Plus it doesn’t feel sticky and it doesn’t leave a film behind.

If you are some one like me who prefers cleansing balm/oils to remove their makeup and usually double cleanse this works great as a second cleanse as well and gets rid of every last bit of makeup. It also works great as a morning cleanser. I like to keep my morning skincare simple and quick so I just use this instead of a face wash and get on with my moisturizer and eye cream and I am done.

The Good:

Suitable for all skin types.
Very convenient.
Removes makeup easily and effectively.
Works great as a second cleanse.
Did not dry out my skin.
Doesn’t feel sticky.
Doesn’t leave a film behind.
Very Affordable.

The Bad:

Not that effective on waterproof mascara.

Now with so many Micellar water available in the market this is the most budget friendly option out there. Removes makeup quite nicely and easily. Love how convenient to use it is and so gentle. If you can do try it out.
